  • You can dry in front of a fan and/or heater for about 10 minutes.  You can expect to have somewhat of a tacky feeling to your skin for about 1 1/2 hours.  You do not want to put on any tight clothing that will rub your skin such as a bra.
  • Wait to shower for at least 8 hours... over night if possible.
  • While your tan is developing, avoid contact with any water whatsoever.... or any activity that may cause you to perspire.  Abstain from excessive touching, rubbing or scratching!
  • Do not apply any products on your skin such as lotions, perfumes, oils, etc. before your first shower.
  • Wait at least one day before shaving and if you do use very light pressure with the razor.
  • During your first post-tan shower, you will rinse off the cosmetic bronzer using only your hands ( no washcloth or loofah) and a mild pH balancing shower gel such as Amber Sun Body Wash.  You will see the colored bronzer rinse off and go down the drain... leaving you with a beautiful sunless tan!
  • Avoid long hot showers or baths and use a gentle, alcohol/ oil-free soap.
  • Pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing.!
  • Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!  It is essential to keeping a smoother, longer lasting, even fading tan.  Apply a non-oil moisturizer to your skin following each shower or bath.
  • You may consider using a moisturizer called ProLong, which I have at the salon, that contains a small percentage of DHA that will aid in extending your tan.
  • Avoid exfoliating your skin until you are ready for your next spray tan.
  • Products such as certain bar soaps, alchohol based products such as toners and astringents and some acne products that contain AHA's, BHA's, and Retin A will cause your tan to fade faster for sure! So avoid these products.
  • Pools and spas that utilize high levels of Chlorine can cause your tan to fade.
  • Follow this same showering routine for the duration of the tan in order for it to last as long as possible.
  • The tan should last anywhere from 5-10 days depending on how well you follow our post-tanning advice.

After Your Tan :

During the Tanning Process :

The Spray Tanning Process

  • Exfoliate.... Exfoliate.....Exfoliate! at least start 24 hours before your tan if possible. This is very important to clear away any dry, dead skin cells to ensure smooth coverage, even fading, and the longevity of the tan.  To exfoliate properly use a washcloth and a non-moisturizing oil-free body wash or scrub.  Gently exfoliate so as to not irritate the skin.  Make sure to remove all soap and shampoo residue also. Towel dry well.
  • Avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products or in-shower moisturizers. These products can keep the bronzer from properly reacting with the skin.
  • Any waxing or shaving should be completed 24 hours prior to session.
  • Skin should be clean, dry and free of any skin care products such as lotions, moisturizers, perfumes, body oils, make-up and deodorant.  These products can act as a barrier and affect the tanning process.  If you don't have time to remove your make-up or deodorant before your session, I usually have wet wipes available.
  • I will also have hair ties, head bands and shower caps to make sure we have your hair out of the way to properly spray your face. However, you are welcome to provide your own.  I will also have a robe for you to wear for privacy.
  • I will have barrier cream that you will lightly  apply to your hands, feet, ankles, nails and any other areas that may be very dry such as knees and elbows.  I want to achieve a nice transition of color in those areas.  We want a very natural looking tan!
  • Try to shave at least 8 hours before your tan so that the pores are not exposed.
  • Manicures, pedicures, and hair appointments should always be scheduled before your spray tan appointment.  Facials and massages must be done at least 24 hours prior to your session.
  • Have dark, loose fitting clothing to put on after the tan.
  • Also if rain is in the forecast please plan accordingly... an umbrella and  loose clothing to cover all of your skin.  You can't get wet for at least 8 hours after your session.

Here's a similar example of how I will be spray tanning you!  I use a pop-up tent with an extraction fan that actually pulls the overspray away from you during the process.

Natural Glow Spray Tans

  • You can expect to be made to feel 100% completely comfortable.  I realize that this may feel awkward at first to someone who is very shy or modest.
  • You may wear anything you would like when I'm spray tanning you or nothing at all.  Most of the time women wear thongs or swimsuit bottoms and nothing up top because they don't want the lines.  Do what you are comfortable with.  As far as I am concerned.... you are a canvas to be sprayed to the best of my ability!
  • Do not wear lycra, wool, nylon or silk during or after the spray tanning session for at least 8 hours or until you have rinsed off the bronzer.  These fabrics could possibly be permanently stained during that time.
  • I do ask men to wear their underwear of some sort.
  • The solution is slightly cool on your skin as I am applying it.   I will use a handheld Spray gun powered by a small turbine to apply the bronzer that works for all skin types and tones.  Due to my experience, I know just how much to apply to your skin to achieve the desired customized results for each person!
  • The tinted solution will show immediately on your skin due to the cosmetic bronzer or color guide.
  • You will not want to shower for at least 8 hours or preferably... the next morning.
  • Your skin will darken over the next 8 hours following your session as the DHA in the bronzer tans your skin.  So don't worry if you look very dark the night of your spray tan.   The color will be beautiful once you rinse off the bronzer.
