Here is what you can expect during your spray tan session with Natural Glow Spray Tans:
1. Professional manner and warm greeting
You can expect things to be clean and orderly and to have a professionally trained spray technician in a very private environment.
2. Explanation of the Spray Tan Service
We will tell you what to expect and how to prepare over the phone or in person. Here are some helpful hints in advance:
- The total session lasts about 20-25 minutes including the pre and post preparation.
- So arrive about 5 minutes early if you are coming to our salon location rather than us coming to you.
- Make sure you have showered, shaven, removed makeup as well as any oil or moisturizer for the best results.
- VERY IMPORTANT - You should not get spray tanned within 4 days of WAXING.
- Wear dark, loose fitting clothing and undergarments to and from your appointment.
- Wear a bathing suit under your clothes or bring lingerie to tan. Most girls just wear their thongs and nothing else or tan nude.
- If you do not want any tan lines, then we can advise you concerning our policies on tanning without the lines.
- Do not wear lycra, wool, nylons, or silk during or after the spray tanning session for at least 8 hours and after you have showered to prevent the color guide/bronzer(DHA) from possibly permanently staining these particular fabrics.
3. The Use of the Proper equipment, solutions and preparation:
- For Optimal Results, we will be using the finest blend of solution suitable for your skin type. This solution is also SAFE for all skin types, as well as FDA approved. You will receive personal treatment for a customized tan. The tinted solution will show immediately on your skin due to the cosmetic bronzer or color guide. However, the tan will develop under the bronzer over the next 4-6 hours as the DHA reacts with the outermost layer of your skin. Therefore, it is important to wait to shower for at least 6 hours after your tan has been applied.
- You can expect an organized, well ventilated treatment room with all the amenities that you may need for the session such as towels, hair cap, barrier creme, hair bands, facial and body wipes.
- We will use a handheld airbrush with a small air compressor to apply the solution to your skin.
4. Respect of Privacy and Comfort:
- Your privacy will be respected at all times!
- Remove all jewelry -- Tie back long hair -- Put on haircap with ears, forehead, and hairline exposed.
- Use facial or body wipes to remove any makeup and deodorant.
- You will then disrobe and wear what is most comfortable to you.
- We will then help you to apply the barrier creme to the inside of hands and bottoms of feet as well as on nails and cuticles. We will also lightly apply some barrier creme over the back of your heels and the top of your feet, including toes.
5. Completion of Spray Tan Session, Answering any Questions and Giving Maintenance Instructions:
- Extending the life of your tan is easy if you follow the tips we give you. It should last approximately 7-10 days if you do so.
- We will help to wipe off any excess barrier creme.
- You will be left alone to dress then once you are dressed, we will answer any questions.
- We will also share with you maintenance techniques, the use of moisturizers and lotions, exfoliators, and bath gels to prolong your tan.
- You may consider purchasing special products to help preserve and extend the life of your sunless tan.
- Some After Tan Tips: Don't exercise, swim or bathe for 6 to 8 hours, wash with a mild shower gel and your hands
- Some color will wash off in the shower - that's normal. It's the color guide/bronzer that is washing off - the tan will have developed into the skin under the color guide.
- Pat, don't rub skin dry and apply a moisturizer after showering to damp skin. You can use an extender lotion as long as you scrub your palms with a bar of soap and a nail brush. Moisturize again before bed with a heavier moisturizer.
- Apply a moisturizer twice every day that you are not getting a spray tan. You can apply an extender once a day, or every other day.
- Avoid exfoliating skin. Some products can cause faster fading. Some of these products are bar soaps, alchohol based products such as toners and astringents and products that cause exfoliation such as AHA's, BHA's, Retin-A, etc. Please ask for our "Products to Avoid" list.
